I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 15 months, and life's never really been carefree. But there are so many silver linings to the clouds in my life. Most especially the people who have supported me - like you guys :) I realized this year that I need to look for the silver linings, but also be one myself. I hope my song inspires you to do the same :)
Song Description
A song of poignant memories of a life full of medical struggle, and a diagnosis which carries lifelong implications. The chorus reflects an attitude of hope and the desire to not only find the silver linings in hardship, but also to actually BE the silver lining amidst the struggle.
Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song as a reflection of my life spent with Type 1 diabetes since my early childhood. Recently I've been feeling so grateful for the fellow diabetics who support me, from the diabetes groups who have me sing for their events, to the magazines who feature me as a source of inspiration for their readers, and of course for the fans who feel a bond with me over our shared diabetic lifestyle and struggles. I realized that having this disease has never been a walk in the park, or a "summer parade," but it has opened up opportunities to inspire and touch people - something every artist yearns for.
